Te mapa
Gamagōri faces Mikawa Bay in southern Aichi, and its map is shaped by the meeting of steep green hills and a gently curving shoreline. The town stretches along the coast in a narrow band. Residential streets climb a short way inland before the slopes take over, and harbour basins and reclaimed land give the waterfront a crisp, geometric edge.
The best-known feature is Takeshima, a small wooded island just offshore with a shrine on it, reached by a long footbridge. On a Gamagōri map poster the bridge is a single thin line across the water, one of the most distinctive details on this stretch of coast. The town's hot-spring areas cluster along the shore nearby.
Gamagōri is also known for citrus, with mikan orchards covering the hillsides behind the town, and for the Laguna Ten Bosch leisure complex on the waterfront. Sea, hills and a small grid of streets between them make the place read clearly in monochrome, especially at the larger sizes.
A slender bridge links the shore to the round island of Takeshima. Anyone who has walked across it will recognise the map straight away from this detail.
The coast alternates between natural curves and the straight lines of harbours and reclaimed land, giving the lower part of the poster a strong outline against open water.
A short distance from the shore, the street grid gives way to slopes, where the roads thin out into winding lanes through orchards and woodland.

Koteā ko Gamagōri
Many people know Gamagōri from a weekend at the onsen or a walk out to the island. A map of the bay and its bridge keeps that trip in view, and it suits a calm room where the open water on the poster has space to breathe.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed, so you can add the date of a visit or a line of your own. Choose one of five styles; Blueprint and Noir both work well with the sea. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
