Te mapa
Garhākota is a town in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, in the historic region of Bundelkhand. Its name points to its origin: garh means fort, and the town grew beside a fortress built at the meeting of two small rivers, the Sonar and the Gadheri. That confluence still shapes the map, with water lines framing one side of the old settlement.
From above, the historic core appears as a knot of narrow, irregular lanes close to the fort, while newer roads extend outward toward the highway and surrounding villages. The land around is gently rolling, part of the plateau country of central India, with farmland, ponds and scattered groves filling the spaces between settlements. The rivers give the map a natural curve that no planned street could.
A Garhākota map poster brings together these two layers, the river confluence with its fort and the ordinary daily town beyond. In black and white the old lanes read as a fine, dense texture beside the smooth bends of the water. It is a fitting gift for anyone from Sagar district, or for those interested in the fort towns of this part of Madhya Pradesh.
The Sonar and Gadheri rivers meet beside the town, their curving channels forming the strongest natural lines on the map and marking the defensive site chosen for the fort.
The fortress that gave Garhākota its name stands near the confluence, and the streets closest to it are the oldest and most tightly packed in the town.
Beyond the built area, fields and village roads spread across gently rolling land typical of Bundelkhand, giving the edges of the poster an open, spacious feel.
