Te mapa
Ghāziābād lies directly east of Delhi in Uttar Pradesh and forms part of the National Capital Region. On the map it has no clear edge. Its colonies merge with East Delhi on one side and extend along the highways toward Meerut on the other. The Hindon River runs north to south through the city and divides the older core from the large planned districts to the west.
The city dates to 1740 and takes its name from its founder, Ghazi-ud-din. Its position has always mattered. It sits on the main road and rail routes out of Delhi toward the upper Doab, and the railway junction appears on the map as a knot of converging lines. A Ghāziābād map poster shows the pattern those routes created.
West of the Hindon are Indirapuram, Vaishali and Kaushambi, newer townships built as tight rectangles of housing blocks with metro lines at their edges. East of the river the older town has narrower and less regular streets. The Delhi–Meerut Expressway cuts a wide, straight line through all of it, which makes the city's link to the capital easy to see.
The river winds north to south through the city. Its floodplain forms a long, open strip between the older town and the planned districts on the western bank.
Several rail lines meet in Ghāziābād before continuing east and north. On the map they form a clear radiating shape near the historic centre.
Indirapuram, Vaishali and Kaushambi appear as dense, orderly grids of housing blocks near the Delhi border. They are served by metro lines and wide arterial roads.
