Gobu lies on the Absheron Peninsula, on the western edge of the Baku area. The land here is dry and mostly treeless, with low ridges and open ground. The settlement's map shows an older core of irregular streets next to newer, more regular residential areas laid out in straight blocks.
Like much of the land around Baku, Gobu has been changing as the capital expands. Main roads connect it with the city and with other Absheron settlements, and they appear on the map as strong lines across the otherwise sparse landscape. The open terrain around the settlement leaves a lot of blank space.
