Te mapa
Greenock stretches along the southern shore of the Firth of Clyde, where the river widens toward the sea. On the map, the coast is the main event: a long line of quays, docks and the Esplanade, with the deep-water anchorage known as the Tail of the Bank just offshore. Behind the shoreline the ground rises quickly and the streets follow.
The town grew on shipbuilding and sugar refining, and its plan still shows it. A dense Victorian centre sits near the water, while residential streets climb the slopes in terraces and curves toward the open moorland above. Greenock is also the birthplace of James Watt, whose improvements to the steam engine helped power the industrial age that built the town.
A Greenock map poster captures that meeting of steep land and deep water. It is a natural choice for Inverclyde families, for anyone with a connection to the Clyde's shipyards, and for people who remember the ferries and the view across to the hills of Argyll. In monochrome, the coastline and the terraced streets make a strong, layered composition.
The broad water of the Firth fills the northern part of the poster, with Greenock's quays and docks drawn as a firm edge along the shore.
A long, straight promenade runs beside the water in the west end, one of the clearest lines on the map and a favourite walk for locals.
Residential roads climb the hillside in curves and terraces, and their stepped pattern shows how the town was built on steep ground above the river.
