Te mapa
Groesbeek lies just south-east of Nijmegen, on one of the few ridges in this part of the Netherlands. The terrain is unusual for the country, with a glacial moraine rising above the surrounding lowland. It shows on the map in the curve of the streets and in the woods that cover the higher ground to the north.
The village centre is compact, with residential streets spreading out in all directions. To the east lies the German border, and farmland across the plateau is divided into the regular fields of the region. The slopes are sunny enough for vineyards, which is rare in the Netherlands.
In September 1944, the fields around Groesbeek were landing zones for American paratroopers during Operation Market Garden. The Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery and the National Liberation Museum 1944–1945 keep that history present. The Four Days Marches from Nijmegen also pass through the village each July. A Groesbeek map poster places the village on its ridge, between woods, fields and the border.
Groesbeek sits on raised glacial ground that is rare in the Dutch landscape, and the streets curve with the slopes instead of forming a flat grid.
The open fields around the village were airborne landing zones in 1944, and today they are still largely farmland, as clear on the map as they were then.
Forest covers the higher ground between Groesbeek and Nijmegen, forming a large green area crossed by paths along the top of the map.

Koteā ko Groesbeek
Groesbeek matters to many people for different reasons: as a home, a walking route in July, or the resting place of a family member who served in 1944. A map of the village gives each of those connections a place to be remembered.
Add a name, a date or coordinates to the title lines, and choose Classic, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame, and HD files are $9.
