Te mapa
Guadalajara spreads across the Atemajac Valley in western Mexico, roughly 1,500 metres above sea level. The city is built on a long grid of streets that extends almost uniformly in every direction. From above, this grid is the dominant texture, with the Periférico ring road forming a large, irregular loop around much of the metropolitan area and the older districts packed inside it.
At the centre, the cathedral is surrounded by four plazas arranged in the shape of a Latin cross, a layout visible on any detailed map. To the east, the long pedestrian Plaza Tapatía leads to the Hospicio Cabañas, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for the murals of José Clemente Orozco. Avenida Vallarta runs west toward the Minerva roundabout.
On the northern edge, the city stops abruptly at the Barranca de Huentitán, a steep canyon carved by the Río Santiago, which shows on the map as a dramatic wild boundary. Guadalajara is often described as the home of mariachi music and lies not far from the town of Tequila. A Guadalajara map poster captures the steady grid, the central cross and the canyon edge together.

A long pedestrian axis leading east from the historic centre to the Hospicio Cabañas, drawing a broad straight line through the surrounding blocks.
A deep canyon on the northern edge of the city, where the grid ends abruptly and the land drops toward the Río Santiago, creating a dramatic natural border.
