Te mapa
Gūduvāncheri lies on the southern edge of the Chennai metropolitan area, in Chengalpattu district, along the Grand Southern Trunk Road that runs from the city toward Chengalpattu. On the map it reads as a corridor settlement: a strong central axis formed by the highway and the parallel railway, with new residential layouts spreading outward on both sides.
The suburban railway from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu stops here, making the town a practical base for commuters working in the city and in nearby industrial and IT areas. Over recent decades, farmland and open plots have been turned into housing layouts, which appear on the map as neat blocks of short parallel streets.
Like much of the region, the area is dotted with traditional irrigation tanks, broad shallow lakes that appear as smooth open shapes between the streets. A Gūduvāncheri map poster captures this mix of old water bodies, rail line, highway and newly laid-out neighbourhoods, a snapshot of a town changing quickly on the edge of a major city.
The Grand Southern Trunk Road runs straight through the town, forming its main spine and linking it north to Chennai and south toward Chengalpattu.
The commuter line runs parallel to the highway, and the two together create a double axis that divides the map and organises the neighbourhoods around it.
Traditional tanks near the town appear as wide, smooth shapes amid the street pattern, reminders of the farmland that covered this area before the suburbs grew.
