Te mapa
Puducherry, long known as Pondicherry, sits on the Coromandel Coast of south-eastern India, and its map begins with the sea. A straight shoreline runs north to south along the Bay of Bengal. Behind it, the old town is laid out as a rectangle of streets crossing at neat right angles, a legacy of the French, who governed the settlement until 1954.
The historic town was divided in two. The French administration was based in the seaside quarter, often called the White Town, and the Tamil quarter lay to the west. A canal separates them and still appears on the map as a narrow line parallel to the coast. Both halves share the same grid, but their buildings, street names and textures remain distinct.
Along the water, the promenade on Goubert Avenue gives the town a clean eastern edge. Beyond the boulevards that ring the historic centre, the city spreads into newer, less regular districts. The Sri Aurobindo Ashram sits within the old grid, and the international township of Auroville lies a short distance north. A Puducherry map poster shows that neat rectangle against the open sea.

A narrow canal runs north to south through the old town. It marks the traditional boundary between the French seaside quarter and the Tamil quarter to the west.
Goubert Avenue follows the straight coast along the Bay of Bengal, giving the map a firm eastern border where the grid meets the water.

Koteā ko Puducherry
Puducherry draws people for a season and often keeps them longer: a stay at the ashram, a year of study, a slow holiday cycling through the old quarters. The map puts those streets on the wall. Change the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a guesthouse, a date or a name.
The strict grid looks especially good in Blueprint, and Paper or Sand echo the pale colonial facades. Classic black & white and Noir give sharper contrast. Order a matte printed poster, or download six HD sizes for $9 and have it printed locally.
