Te mapa
Habboûch lies in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon, on the hills of the Jabal Amel region. Like many towns here, it grew along the ridges and slopes, not on a plan drawn on a flat sheet. The result is a street pattern that bends to follow the terrain, with roads winding up and around the hillsides.
From above, houses cluster along these roads, and open land on the slopes shows up as terraces, olive groves and fields. The built area thins out toward the edges and merges with the countryside, and neighbouring villages sit close by on nearby hills. The overall pattern is soft and irregular, shaped by the land more than by any grid.
A Habboûch map poster records that intimate relationship between the town and its hills. The fine lines of the winding streets form a delicate network across the page, showing where the ground rises and falls. For people with roots here, it is a small, precise picture of home in the south of Lebanon.
Roads curve with the slopes rather than running straight, so the street network itself traces the shape of the hills on the map.
Open ground around the town shows as scattered fields and groves, a patchwork that reflects the region's long tradition of hillside farming.
Nearby settlements sit on surrounding hills, linked by winding roads. Together they create a network of small clusters across the landscape.

Koteā ko Habboûch
Many families from southern Lebanon now live far from their home towns, and a map is a gentle way to keep the connection. It shows the actual streets of Habboûch, without decoration, which is often what people want.
