Te mapa
Haji Shah is a town in northern Punjab, Pakistan, in flat farming country not far from the Indus. From above, it is a close cluster of streets and houses with lanes branching out between fields. The overall shape comes less from planning than from the roads that meet here and the plots of farmland around it.
This part of Punjab is a lowland plain with the hills of the north-west on the horizon. Settlements here tend to be compact, with the built area packed tightly and farmland pressing right up to the last houses. On the map, that gives a crisp outline: a dense core of short, irregular streets surrounded by the geometric shapes of fields and farm tracks.
A Haji Shah map poster is a portrait of a working town rather than a showpiece. Its interest is in the details: the way lanes squeeze between house walls, the main road carrying traffic through, and the straight tracks running out to the fields. Rendered in a single ink colour, that close-knit pattern turns into something quietly graphic.
The centre is a tight grid of short, uneven lanes. At poster scale it becomes a dark, fine-grained mass, the visual centre of the composition.
Straight farm tracks and plot boundaries stretch out from the town's edge, adding a looser geometric pattern around the dense centre.
Main roads connect Haji Shah with the surrounding towns of the region, crossing the frame as the longest, clearest lines on the map.
