Te mapa
Harasta lies on the north-eastern edge of Damascus, in the agricultural belt known as the Ghouta. The main highway leaving Damascus towards Homs runs alongside the town, and on a map it is a strong, straight line bordering the built-up area. The older core has narrow, irregular streets, while newer districts have a more regular block pattern.
For centuries the Ghouta was a zone of orchards and gardens watered by channels from the Barada river, supplying the capital with fruit and produce. Around Harasta, fields and tree plots still appear as patches between buildings. The town was heavily damaged during the Syrian war, and its streets hold the memory of the families who lived there.
A Ḩarastā map poster preserves the structure of the town as a record of place: the highway edge, the dense older quarters, and the gradual transition into farmland to the east. For many people now living elsewhere, the map is a way to hold on to the street pattern of home.
The main road north from Damascus runs along the town, a straight, bold line that defines one side of the composition and links it to the capital.
The historic centre has narrow, irregular streets and tightly packed blocks, clearly distinct from the more regular grid of newer districts.
Fields and orchard plots, part of the historic Ghouta farming belt, appear between and beyond the buildings towards the east.

For families from Harasta, many of whom now live far away, a map can be a quiet and dignified way to remember home, the streets of childhood and the orchards around them.
