Te mapa
Hebburn lies in South Tyneside, on the south bank of the River Tyne between Jarrow and Gateshead. The river curves along its northern edge, and the riverside land that once held shipyards and industrial works shows on the map as large, open plots beside the water.
Behind the river, the town is made up of residential streets: older terraces laid out in straight rows, and postwar estates with curving roads and crescents. The Tyne and Wear Metro line runs through the town, drawing a firm line across the street pattern. Parks and green spaces break up the housing at intervals.
Hebburn's shipbuilding history is closely linked to the Hawthorn Leslie yard, and the town gave its name to the BBC sitcom Hebburn. A Hebburn map poster presents it as a riverside town where industry and housing sit close together, with the wide bend of the Tyne holding the whole composition.
The river bends along Hebburn's northern edge, and the former shipyard land beside it forms broad, open shapes against the water.
Older streets of terraced houses appear as tight parallel lines, a pattern typical of Tyneside towns that grew around the yards.
The Metro railway crosses the town in a clean line, linking it to Newcastle and the coast and dividing the map into distinct areas.

Koteā ko Hebburn
Shipyard families, people raised on Tyneside and anyone who has moved away from the North East often want something that shows home as it really is. A map of Hebburn's streets does that without nostalgia or decoration.
