Te mapa
Herval dOeste lies in the Rio do Peixe valley in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, directly across the river from Joaçaba. The two towns grew as a pair, linked by bridges, and on the map they read almost as one urban area split by a winding line of water. Herval dOeste occupies one bank, with streets that climb the slopes away from the river.
The terrain decides everything here. Roads follow the contours of steep hills, so the street pattern curves irregularly rather than forming a grid, with short connecting lanes and tight bends. The railway built along the Rio do Peixe in the early twentieth century helped settle this valley, and its corridor still shapes the flatter strip near the water.
A Herval dOeste map poster captures the dialogue between river and hillside: dense streets near the bridges, looser lines higher up, and the valley narrowing in both directions. It suits anyone with ties to the region, and anyone who enjoys maps where the topography shows through the roads alone.
The river winds through the valley and separates the town from Joaçaba. It draws a strong curved line through the middle of the composition.
Crossings over the river tie the two towns together. These short, straight strokes make the neighbouring centres read as a single urban shape.
Streets bend and climb with the steep valley sides, producing looping, irregular patterns that give the map texture without a single contour line.
