Te mapa
Hihyā is a town in Sharqia Governorate, in the eastern Nile Delta of Egypt, a short distance northeast of Zagazig. The land around it is entirely flat and intensively farmed, divided into long, narrow plots by irrigation canals and field boundaries. From above, the town appears as a compact, tightly built area rising out of this finely divided green landscape.
The streets of the older centre are narrow and irregular, closely packed in the way of many Delta towns that grew from agricultural villages. Newer buildings extend along the main roads leading to neighbouring towns, so the built-up area has a slightly stretched shape. Canals often run alongside these roads, and the two together form the main structure of the map.
Hihyā serves as the centre of its own district, with markets and services for the surrounding villages. Beyond its edges, small villages sit among the fields, each linked to the town by road or canal. A Hihyā map poster captures the rhythm of Delta geography, where water, farmland and settlement fit together in a dense and carefully balanced pattern.
Canals and channels thread through the fields and along roads, forming long, gently curving lines that carry the Nile's water across the landscape and shape the map.
The older centre is a dense cluster of narrow streets and closely set buildings, giving the middle of the map a rich, fine-grained texture.
Small villages scattered across the surrounding farmland appear as separate clusters, each connected by roads and canals, creating a pattern that stretches to the edges of the frame.
