Field patchwork
Long, narrow plots and straight farm roads cover the land around the town. The repeated pattern gives the poster a calm, textile-like quality.

Te mapa
Huanglou lies in central Shandong, in the Weifang area near the historic city of Qingzhou, where the North China Plain begins to rise toward the province's central uplands. It is a smaller urban district, not a major city. On the map it appears as a compact centre linked by straight roads to the villages and fields around it.
The surrounding land is intensively farmed, and from above it forms a patchwork of long rectangular plots divided by field roads and irrigation lines. Villages sit at regular intervals across this grid, each a small knot of lanes. The town itself mixes older, tighter streets with newer blocks laid out along wide main roads.
Because so much of the surrounding land is open, a Huanglou map poster is as much about the landscape as the town. It shows the rhythm of fields and roads, and the way settlements follow the lines of the plain. It is a quiet subject, and it will mean most to people who know the area personally.
Long, narrow plots and straight farm roads cover the land around the town. The repeated pattern gives the poster a calm, textile-like quality.
Small villages appear as dense knots of lanes spaced across the plain, each linked to its neighbours by straight field roads that cross the open land.
Newer, wider roads cut cleanly through the district. They tie the centre to the regional network and give the composition a set of strong straight lines.

Koteā ko Huanglou
Hometowns in rural China are changing quickly, with new roads and buildings replacing old lanes. A map made now records Huanglou as it is today, and a family may value it more in ten years than it seems at first.
Set the title and subtitle in your own words, add a year or a family name, and choose from five styles, including Paper and Blueprint. The $9 download includes six print sizes, and a printed, framed version can be shipped as well.
