Te mapa
Ikire is a town in Osun State in southwestern Nigeria and the headquarters of the Irewole local government area. It lies on the main road between Ibadan and Ile-Ife, and on a map that highway is its spine. The town stretches along it, with neighbourhoods branching off on either side and footpaths and minor roads fading into the surrounding countryside.
The pattern is typical of older Yoruba towns that grew outward over time rather than following a fixed plan. Streets curve with the land and compounds cluster around shared spaces. At the edge of town the houses give way gradually to farmland, cocoa plots and patches of forest. The land rolls gently, with small streams running between low rises.
Across Nigeria, Ikire is known for dodo Ikire, a snack made from very ripe plantain that roadside vendors sell to travellers passing through. An Ikire map poster shows the town another way, through its roads and streets alone. It gives a clear, recognisable outline to people who call Ikire home or pass through often.
The main highway runs straight through the town and gives the map its strongest line. The densest streets are gathered close to it.
Away from the highway, roads curve and branch freely. They follow the terrain and older paths rather than a planned grid.
The built-up area thins out into farmland, plantations and woodland, so a wider frame shows the town as a compact cluster in open countryside.
