Te mapa
Isla de Mona lies in the Mona Passage, the strait between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola, and belongs to Puerto Rico. From above it is a compact, rounded plateau of limestone, rising from the sea behind steep cliffs on most sides. A narrow coastal shelf with beaches runs along parts of the shore, but there is no town and almost no road network to draw.
The island is a nature reserve with no permanent residents, managed for conservation and visited by campers, researchers and rangers. Its plateau is riddled with caves, some once mined for guano, and it is home to the Mona ground iguana, found nowhere else. On a map, these qualities translate into an unbroken interior and a single clean coastline.
An Isla de Mona map poster is one of the most minimal designs possible: one solid form, a thin margin of shore and a wide field of open water. That simplicity is the appeal. It suits people who know the island from a rare visit or a dive trip, and anyone who likes the idea of a place defined almost entirely by its edge.
Most of the island ends abruptly in limestone cliffs, so its outline is firm and unbroken, with very few inlets interrupting the curve of the coast.
A narrow strip of beaches and coastal forest along parts of the shore provides the island's landing places and its only real concentration of paths and trails.
The Mona Passage fills the rest of the frame, placing the island in wide, empty water between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola with nothing else in sight.

Koteā ko Isla de Mona
Mona is a place relatively few people reach, which makes a poster of it personal: a record of a camping permit, a research season or a dive along its shores. Its single rounded shape reads well even from across a room.
Add your own title and subtitle, such as a trip date or an expedition name, and fine-tune the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, with the darker styles giving the island a striking silhouette.
