Jalda is in the Sundargarh district of northern Odisha, close to the industrial city of Rourkela. The countryside here is a mix of low wooded hills, farmland and river channels. From above, the town appears as a loose settlement where residential lanes, open plots and service roads meet the larger infrastructure of the region.
Rail tracks and main roads are the strongest lines on the map. They tie Jalda to Rourkela's steel industry and to the wider network of eastern India.
