Te mapa
Jirapa is the capital of its municipality in the Upper West Region of Ghana, in the dry savanna of the country's far north. The town centre forms a compact cluster of streets where roads from surrounding communities meet. Beyond it, the map opens into farmland dotted with family compounds, a settlement pattern typical of the Dagaaba areas of the northwest.
Jirapa is known as the site of one of the early Catholic missions in northern Ghana, and the church, schools and hospital that grew around it remain central to town life. The regional capital, Wa, lies to the south, linked by road. Farming follows the rhythm of a single rainy season, with long dry months in between.
A Jirapa map poster shows the small centre, the roads leading out and the scattered pattern of settlement across the savanna. It is a quiet and personal image for people from the Upper West who now live in Accra, Kumasi or abroad, and want home on the wall.
A handful of main roads converge on the centre, where the densest street pattern on the poster marks the market area and the town's institutions.
Around the town, homesteads sit apart from each other across the farmland, which gives the map a light, dotted texture rather than a continuous built-up edge.
A main road leads south toward the regional capital, the strongest line leaving the town and a vital link for trade and services.

Koteā ko Jirapa
For anyone from Jirapa living in a larger city, a map poster is a way to keep the town, its roads and its landscape in daily view. The simple composition suits calm, uncluttered rooms.
Personalise the title, add a family name or a year, and choose from five styles. Sand and Paper suit the savanna palette well. The $9 HD download is ready to print at any local print shop.
