Te mapa
Joaçaba lies in the Midwest of Santa Catarina, in the deep valley of the Rio do Peixe. On a map the river snakes through the centre of the frame, and the town sits along its banks. Streets climb the steep slopes on both sides and switch back where the ground gets too steep. Across the water lies Herval d'Oeste, so the two towns form a single urban area joined by bridges.
The valley shape gives Joaçaba a linear plan, stretched along the river and the old railway line instead of spreading out evenly. The town is known across southern Brazil for its Carnival, one of the best-known in Santa Catarina, which fills the central streets every year. Beyond the urban edge, farmland and forest cover the rolling hills of the region.
A Joaçaba map poster is shaped by its river: a winding line of water, bridges crossing it and neighbourhoods packed onto the valley walls. The composition has natural movement. It suits people who grew up in Joaçaba or Herval d'Oeste, those who return for Carnival and anyone with ties to the west of Santa Catarina.
The river curves through the middle of the map and divides Joaçaba from Herval d'Oeste. It is the organising line of the whole image.
Several crossings link the two riverbanks, tying the neighbouring towns into one continuous built-up area in the valley.
Streets climb steeply from the riverside, curving along the hillsides and giving the plan a stretched, contoured shape.

Koteā ko Joaçaba
The print is a natural gift for people from Joaçaba living in other parts of Brazil, and for those who remember the valley from Carnival nights. The river gives the map a flowing line that works at every size.
Add a family name, a year or a short phrase to the title and subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters are shipped from partners in over 30 countries.
