Te mapa
Junnar is a town in the Pune district of Maharashtra, set in a valley among the hills of the Sahyadri range. On a map its old core is a dense cluster of lanes and bazaars, with roads leading out across farmland toward the surrounding villages and the high ground that rises steeply on almost every side.
The town is known as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was born at Shivneri Fort on a hill just south of the centre. The area also holds many Buddhist rock-cut caves carved into the cliffs, including the Lenyadri group, and historic trade routes such as the Naneghat pass once linked the region with the coast.
A Junnar map poster shows the tight urban core pressed against dramatic terrain. The fort hill appears as a compact island amid winding paths, and the surrounding slopes and valleys give the drawing a strong sense of relief, even in the simple line style of a minimalist map.
The fort occupies a steep hill beside the town, where Shivaji was born, its paths and walls forming a small, distinct shape close to the centre.
Buddhist caves carved into the surrounding cliffs, including Lenyadri, sit on the hills around town, reached by paths that climb away from the valley floor.
The historic centre is a dense web of narrow lanes and markets, contrasting with the open farmland and hills that surround it.

Junnar holds deep meaning in Maharashtra's history, and for people with roots here the map connects family memory with that larger story. The fort and hills give the print real presence.
