Te mapa
Juquitiba lies southwest of the São Paulo metropolitan area, in a hilly region still largely covered by Atlantic Forest. The small town centre is only one part of a spread-out municipality, and the map is dominated by forested slopes, valleys and the roads that follow them, with neighbourhoods and rural properties scattered along the way.
The BR-116 highway, the Régis Bittencourt route between São Paulo and Curitiba, passes through the municipality, a long curving line through the hills. The rivers here are used for rafting and outdoor activities, and much of the land is under environmental protection, which is why so much of the area remains green rather than built up.
A Juquitiba map poster is unusual in how little of it is dense city. Instead it traces a network of winding roads and streams through wooded terrain, with a modest urban cluster at its heart. In black and white this becomes a delicate, organic drawing, closer to a landscape study than a street plan.
Juquitiba's small central area gathers streets in a compact cluster, the one place on the map where the lines tighten into a recognisable urban grid.
The BR-116 highway curves through the hills of the municipality on its way south, a strong continuous line that anchors the looser pattern of local roads.
Wooded hills and river valleys cover most of the surrounding land, giving the poster wide open areas crossed by thin, winding roads and watercourses.

Koteā ko Juquitiba
Juquitiba is a weekend refuge for many people from São Paulo and a home for those who chose quieter hills over the city. A map of its winding roads is a gentle reminder of that choice.
Set a title, perhaps the name of a family sítio, and add a date or coordinates, then choose one of five styles. Classic black and white suits the fine road network, and Sand gives the forest a softer warmth.
