Kasterlee lies in the Kempen region of Antwerp province, in the north of Belgium. It is a green municipality, with pine forests, heathland and sandy soils that come from the old landscape of the region. The Kleine Nete river winds through the area, and its valley adds meadows and wetland to the map.
The village is popular with walkers and cyclists. It is known for its sand dunes and woodland, including a dune known as the Kabouterberg, which has long drawn visitors. Several small village centres are scattered across the municipality, linked by quiet roads that curve through the trees and fields.
