Te mapa
Kasumi sits on the northern coast of Hyōgo Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan. Its map is set by a coastline of coves, rocky headlands and a sheltered harbour. The town fills the flat ground near the water and runs up the narrow valleys behind it, where roads and rail lines squeeze between wooded hills.
This stretch of coast belongs to the San'in Kaigan Geopark, known for its sea cliffs and rock formations. Kasumi is best known in Japan for its fishing port and the snow crab landed there each winter. The former town is now part of Kami, and the port is still the centre of local life.
A Kasumi map poster captures that tight fit between sea and mountain. The indented coastline gives the frame a lively edge, the harbour forms a clear pocket of water, and the streets gather where the land allows. In black and white, the coast reads as the main subject, with the town tucked into its folds.
A sheltered harbour cuts into the coast here, and its breakwaters and quays form one of the most distinct shapes on the map.
Headlands and small coves alternate along the Sea of Japan shore, part of a geopark coast whose irregular line gives the poster a detailed edge.
Behind the shore, forested hills leave only narrow valleys for roads and houses, so the built area follows the lowland in thin branching strips.

Koteā ko Kasumi
Kasumi appeals to people who love the San'in coast, winter crab trips or small Japanese harbour towns. The rugged coastline makes it a distinctive map that also works as an abstract composition.
