Te mapa
Kayonza is the main town of Kayonza District in Rwanda's Eastern Province, east of Kigali. The terrain here is gentler than in the west of the country, with rolling hills that flatten gradually toward the savanna of the east. On the map the town spreads along its main roads, with a small commercial centre where they meet.
Its position has made Kayonza an important junction. The main road from Kigali divides here, with one branch heading southeast toward the Rusumo border crossing with Tanzania and the other running north toward Uganda. The town is also the usual gateway to Akagera National Park, Rwanda's savanna park, which lies a short drive away.
A Kayonza map poster centres on that fork in the road. The two highways leave the town in clear, confident lines, local streets branch into the surrounding hillsides, and the landscape beyond is a pattern of fields, footpaths and scattered homesteads. It is a map about connection, showing how a small town links a country to its neighbours.
The main roads toward Tanzania and Uganda part ways in the town. The distinct fork defines the centre and gives the map its strongest shape.
The town and its surroundings sit on gently undulating land, where roads and paths curve around the slopes and settlements follow the ridges and lower ground.
East of Kayonza the land opens toward the lakes and savanna of Akagera National Park, and at wider map extents the landscape becomes noticeably more open.

Koteā ko Kayonza
Kayonza is a hometown for many, a stop for travellers heading to Akagera, and a regular crossing point for people working across East Africa. A map of the junction town turns that sense of movement into a calm, graphic poster.
