Kecskemét Map Poster & Print
Kecskemét lies in the middle of the Great Hungarian Plain, between the Danube and the Tisza, roughly halfway along the route from Budapest to Szeged. On a map its most striking feature is the radial pattern: roads come in from every direction across the flat land and meet in a string of connected squares at the heart of the city, enclosed by an inner ring road.
Those central squares hold some of Hungary's best-known Art Nouveau buildings, including the Town Hall and the Cifrapalota with its coloured ceramic tiles. The composer Zoltán Kodály was born here, and the Kodály Institute continues his work in music education. Around the centre, a second ring of boulevards and a wide belt of residential streets spread out toward the fields.
