Te mapa
Khadyzhensk lies in the Apsheronsky District of Krasnodar Krai, where the plains of the Kuban give way to the forested foothills of the western Caucasus. The town follows the valley of the Pshish River, so on the map it takes an elongated form, with streets arranged along the valley floor and green slopes rising on either side.
It began as a Cossack stanitsa in the nineteenth century and grew into a town with the development of the local oil fields, which remain part of its identity. The railway from Armavir to Tuapse runs through the valley, linking Khadyzhensk with the Black Sea coast on the other side of the mountains.
A Khadyzhensk map poster shows how closely the town fits its landscape: a narrow band of streets, the curve of the river, and the steady line of the railway, with the hills leaving wide open areas around it. It is a clear, calm composition that rewards a closer look.
The river runs along the valley floor, and the town stretches beside it, giving the map a long, flowing axis framed by wooded slopes on both sides.
The Armavir–Tuapse railway passes through town on its way to the coast, a smooth, continuous line that runs parallel to the river and the main streets.
Forested hills close in around the settlement, so built-up areas end abruptly and leave broad empty spaces that give the composition a sense of the mountains nearby.
