Te mapa
Kikolo sits on the northern edge of greater Luanda, within the municipality of Cacuaco, where the capital's growth has pushed outward from the bay. From above it reads as a fine, closely packed texture of small plots and narrow lanes, cut through by a handful of wider roads that carry traffic between the city centre and the northern suburbs.
The map shows a place that has grown quickly and organically, with little of the formal grid you find in older parts of Luanda. Blocks bend around the terrain and around each other, and the result is a dense pattern of short streets. The Kikolo map poster captures that texture in fine linework, so the district looks almost like a woven surface.
Toward the west the land runs down to the Atlantic coastline around Cacuaco, which gives the composition a clear edge. Inland, the street pattern thins out as it meets open ground. It is a map of everyday Luanda rather than its postcard views, which is what gives it its honesty on a wall.
Hundreds of short lanes and small blocks fill the frame, creating an intricate pattern that reads more like a textile than a planned city grid.
A few wider roads cut clean lines through the dense fabric, linking Kikolo with central Luanda to the south and the northern outskirts.
The district sits on the northern side of the metropolitan area, close to the coast at Cacuaco, where the city meets the Atlantic.
