Te mapa
Kiliya stands on the left bank of the Kiliya branch, the northernmost and largest arm of the Danube delta, in the Odesa region of Ukraine. The opposite bank belongs to Romania. From above, the town is a strip of streets pressed along a broad river, with wetlands, islands and side channels spreading out to the east.
The street pattern is mostly rectilinear. Long roads run parallel to the river, and shorter ones cross them down to the waterfront. Outside the town, the map changes character entirely: reed beds, lakes and meandering channels make up the Danube delta, much of which is protected as a biosphere reserve.
A Kiliya map poster sets the straight lines of the town against the loose, organic shapes of the river and the delta, and that contrast suits a minimalist print. Kiliya has a long history as a river port and fortress site on the lower Danube, and that past is still tied to the water that dominates the map.
The widest arm of the Danube delta flows past the town and forms a border with Romania. On the poster, it is a bold band of empty space along the town's edge.
East and around the town, channels, lakes and islands break the land into fine, irregular shapes. This is the northern part of the Danube delta, one of Europe's largest wetlands.
The town's streets run parallel to the river and down to it. The result is an orderly pattern of blocks that looks sharp and deliberate next to the soft outlines of the delta.

Koteā ko Kiliya
For people from Kiliya and the Bessarabian stretch of the Danube, this map holds home, river and border in a single frame. It also appeals to anyone drawn to deltas, where the land and water on the map seem to be still negotiating their boundary.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, with the town's name in any spelling you prefer or a meaningful date. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
