Te mapa
Kitengela lies in Kajiado County, just south of Nairobi, on the Athi–Kapiti plains. The map shows a town that has grown quickly along the main road toward Namanga and the Tanzanian border, with new estates and plots spreading out on either side. Street patterns are often loose and still forming, with large open areas between built-up sections, and the plains continuing beyond.
The town's growth is closely tied to Nairobi, with many residents commuting to the capital. Kitengela also sits next to the southern edge of Nairobi National Park, and the surrounding plains have traditionally been part of a wildlife dispersal area where animals move between the park and the wider rangelands. The local glass-blowing studio Kitengela Glass is known for its recycled glass work.
A Kitengela map poster captures a town in the middle of change. The main road forms a strong central line, the newer estates add blocks of regular streets, and the open plains around them leave generous space in the composition. It is a map that records a particular moment in the growth of the Nairobi region, clear and uncluttered in black and white.
The main highway runs through the town as a strong line, with most development concentrated along it and branching roads leading into new estates.
Recently developed residential areas show regular grids and plots, contrasting with the looser layout of older sections of the town.
Beyond the town, the Athi–Kapiti plains stretch out with sparse roads, giving the map broad, calm areas near the national park.
