Kitgum Map Poster & Print
Kitgum is a town in the Acholi sub-region of northern Uganda, set in wide, gently rolling savanna. On a map, the town centre is a small, fairly regular network of streets around the market and main road. Neighbourhoods spread out from there into lower-density areas, and beyond them the landscape opens into farmland, scattered homesteads and bush.
The town serves as the administrative and trading centre for Kitgum District. Seasonal rivers cross the surrounding land, and main roads lead out toward Gulu, Pader and the border regions to the north. The region lived through a long conflict in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries and has been rebuilding since.
