The Son riverbed
The river spreads into a wide, pale band of sand and water channels. In the dry months the sandbanks widen, and the map captures that loose, braided pattern.

Te mapa
Koelwār stands beside the Son River in Bihar's Bhojpur district, upstream of the point where the Son meets the Ganges. On a map the river dominates. Its broad channel is full of shifting sandbars and braided streams and is far wider than the town beside it. The settlement forms a compact knot of lanes pressed against the approaches to the crossing.
The town is best known for the Koilwar Bridge, a long rail-and-road crossing opened in 1862 and one of the oldest major bridges in India. In black and white it reads as a single decisive line across the pale expanse of the riverbed. Railway and highway converge on it from both sides, drawing the eye straight to the centre of the sheet.
A Koelwār map poster works best with a generous frame, so that the bridge, the curves of the river and the farmland on both banks all fit in. The result is the map of a crossing point, a place defined as much by what passes through it as by its own streets. It is a subject that holds up well at larger print sizes.
The river spreads into a wide, pale band of sand and water channels. In the dry months the sandbanks widen, and the map captures that loose, braided pattern.
Opened in 1862, the long crossing carries both railway and road over the Son. On the poster it is one straight line cutting cleanly across the river.
Rail tracks and the highway bend toward the bridge from both directions, forming a funnel of lines that frames the small town grid on the bank.

Koteā ko Koelwār
For people from Bhojpur and the Patna region, the bridge at Koelwār is a familiar landmark on countless journeys. A map of it marks a place of origin, a route home or simply a piece of Indian engineering history worth looking at every day.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the bridge particularly well. HD files come in six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, with no watermark.
