Te mapa
Bihār Sharīf is the headquarters of Nalanda district in Bihar, and its name is generally traced to the Buddhist monasteries, or viharas, that once stood in the region, the same word from which the state takes its name. From above, the old town is a tight mass of lanes with no obvious grid, spreading out from a historic core toward newer roads and the surrounding fields.
The town became an important centre of Sufi learning, and the dargah of the fourteenth-century saint Makhdoom Sharafuddin Yahya Maneri still draws pilgrims from across the region. On a map, the older districts read as a dense, grainy field, while newer roads and the railway trace straighter paths across the flat land around them.
The ruins of ancient Nalanda lie a short drive to the south-west, and Rajgir and Pawapuri are within easy reach. A Bihār Sharīf map poster captures the close, irregular pattern of an old Indian market town, with main roads cutting through it like spokes toward a wider landscape of villages, ponds and fields.
Narrow, winding streets fill the historic centre with little regularity, creating a fine, dense texture that looks almost woven when printed in black and white.
The dargah of Makhdoom Sharafuddin sits within the older part of town, surrounded by lanes that have grown up around generations of pilgrims and visitors.
Roads leaving town to the south-west lead toward the excavated remains of Nalanda, the ancient monastic university now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Koteā ko Bihār Sharīf
For families with roots in Nalanda district, this map can mark a hometown in a way few souvenirs do. Its dense centre and scattered outer roads give an honest portrait of the town, and the result is quietly graphic rather than decorative.
