Te mapa
Konak is the central district of İzmir. It spreads along the shore of the Gulf of İzmir and climbs the slopes behind it. On a map it reads from water to hill. First comes a straight seafront promenade, then the dense web of the old bazaar just inland. Beyond that, streets twist upward to the summit of Kadifekale, the ancient acropolis of Smyrna.
Konak Square sits at the centre, and its ornate Clock Tower, completed in 1901, has become the emblem of the whole city. Behind the square, the Kemeraltı bazaar forms a maze of narrow streets, mosques and old inns, among the largest historic markets in the country. A short walk away lie the excavated remains of the Agora of Smyrna, which dates from the Roman period.
Along the northern edge, the Kordon promenade follows the curve of the gulf through Alsancak, past cafés and lawns, and ferries leave for the far shore. A Konak map poster shows sea, market and hill meeting in the old core of a port city that people have lived in for thousands of years.
The main square opens onto the water, with the Clock Tower and a small tiled mosque at its centre. Ferry piers sit at its edge.
Behind the square, a dense web of alleys, courtyards and old inns spreads inland. Its tight network of lanes is one of the most intricate patterns on the map.
The hilltop castle overlooks the district from the south. Steep residential streets wind up from the bazaar toward its ancient walls.

Koteā ko Konak
Konak is the part of İzmir everyone knows, whether they grew up by the Kordon or crossed the gulf by ferry. A map of the district captures the city's original core, which makes it a meaningful choice for anyone with ties to the Aegean coast.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps naming İzmir as well as Konak, add a date and edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte print.
