Konan Map Poster & Print

Konan lies in the south of Shiga Prefecture, along the Yasu River as it flows toward Lake Biwa. The city was formed in 2004 from the towns of Kosei and Ishibe. From above it is a mix of rice fields, residential districts and industrial parks laid out on the valley floor, with wooded hills rising to the south.

Ishibe was once a post station on the Tokaido, the historic road between Edo and Kyoto, and the line of that old route still passes through the town. In the hills stand three old Tendai temples known together as the Konan Sanzan, which gives the southern slopes a quiet cultural weight.

A Konan map poster captures a valley city in balance. The river and the railway run through the lowlands, a fine grain of houses and paddies fills the plain, and the forested hills leave a large calm field at the edge of the frame. The map feels orderly and rural at the same time.

01

Yasu River

The river runs along the valley, a broad channel with embankments that gives the map its main natural line and separates Konan from the neighbouring plain.

02

Ishibe post town

The old Tokaido road passes through Ishibe. Its narrow, linear street pattern can still be picked out among the later development around it.

03

Southern temple hills

Forested slopes rise south of the settled valley. The Konan Sanzan temples lie in this area, and the green hillsides form a quiet counterweight on the poster.

Koteā ko Konan

He mapa ʻe maʻuhiga

Konan suits people with roots in southern Shiga, walkers who have followed the old Tokaido, and anyone who likes the pattern of Japanese valley towns, where river, road and hills sit side by side.

Set your own title and subtitle, add a date, and adjust the coordinates line. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper gives the valley the feel of an old route map.
