Te mapa
Konnagar is a town in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, on the western bank of the Hooghly River, north of Howrah and Kolkata. From above, it is one link in a long chain of riverside towns. A narrow belt of dense streets and lanes runs parallel to the river, with the railway line on the inland side and more open ground beyond.
The riverfront is lined with ghats, the steps down to the water that are central to daily life and ritual along the Hooghly. Temples, older houses and small industrial sites stand near the bank. The railway station is a focal point for commuters travelling into Kolkata each day.
A Konnagar map poster shows the typical shape of a Hooghly riverside town. The broad river forms one long edge of the design, the railway runs parallel to it, and the fine grain of lanes between them creates a rich texture. It is an intimate map of a place defined by its relationship with the water.
The wide river runs along the eastern edge of the town, lined with ghats and old buildings. Its long, strong shoreline dominates the composition.
The suburban railway runs roughly parallel to the river. It draws a second strong line on the map, with the dense town framed between the two.
Between the river and the railway, narrow lanes and small blocks form a finely detailed street pattern. It is typical of the old settlements along the Hooghly.

Koteā ko Konnagar
For Bengali families, and for those who have moved away from the Hooghly towns, Konnagar is a place of ghats, trains and familiar lanes. The river gives the poster a strong edge, which makes it visually satisfying on any wall.
