Te mapa
Kushva is in the Middle Urals, in Sverdlovsk Oblast, north of Nizhny Tagil. It began in 1735 as an ironworks, soon after iron ore was found on nearby Mount Blagodat. The discovery is traditionally credited to a Mansi hunter, Stepan Chumpin. As in many Urals factory towns, a dam on the river created a pond, and the settlement grew around the dam and the works.
From above, the pond is still the largest shape in the town. Streets run along its shores and up the gentle slopes away from the water. The older quarters have regular blocks of low houses. Later housing estates stand in looser groups nearby. A railway line passes along the edge of town, and forest closes in on almost every side, so the built-up area ends abruptly.
A Kushva map poster shows a town that has been shaped by industry for almost three centuries. The pond, the dam, the works and the mountain of ore sit close together. The street grid fills the space between them and the surrounding woods, and on paper the town's origin is still easy to read.

The iron-ore mountain that led to the town's founding stands close by. Mining has changed its shape over time, and on the map it appears as an open, cut area beside the streets.
The Urals taiga surrounds Kushva closely. The town's blocks stop sharply where the woods begin, which gives the poster a compact, clearly bounded outline.

It suits anyone with roots in the Middle Urals, whether their family worked at the plant or they grew up by the pond. The map shows how a whole town grew up around a single resource.
Personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates, perhaps with a founding year or a family date. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
