Kūt-e ‘Abdollāh lies in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran, directly south of Ahvaz, the provincial capital. The region is one of the flattest in the country, a wide plain crossed by the Karun River, Iran's largest by volume, and the town's layout follows the river valley and the roads that link it to the city.
