Lake Prespa Map Poster & Print
Lake Prespa is really a pair of lakes, Great Prespa and Small Prespa, sitting high in the mountains where Greece, Albania and North Macedonia meet. On a map the larger lake spreads north to south in a broad shape, while the smaller one lies to its southwest, separated by a thin strip of land.
The borders of all three countries meet in the waters of Great Prespa, which makes it unusual even in the Balkans. Golem Grad, an uninhabited island, sits within the North Macedonian part. Small Prespa lies mostly in Greece, and the island of Agios Achilleios stands in its waters with the ruins of a Byzantine basilica.
Settlement is sparse, with scattered villages rather than towns, and much of the area is protected for wildlife. A Lake Prespa map poster shows two quiet bodies of water joined by a narrow isthmus, with very little built detail.
