Łęczna Map Poster & Print
Łęczna lies north-east of Lublin, where the Świnka river flows into the Wieprz. On the map the historic centre sits near the confluence, with its old market square at the heart of a compact street plan. The river valleys curve around it, and newer housing estates spread out beyond.
For centuries Łęczna was a market town with a large Jewish community, and its seventeenth-century synagogue survives as one of the region's notable historic buildings. Since the late twentieth century the town has been shaped by coal mining at nearby Bogdanka, and its football club, Górnik Łęczna, takes its name from the miners.

To the north-east begins the Łęczna-Włodawa Lake District, a landscape of small lakes and wetlands that makes this corner of Poland distinctive on any map.
