Te mapa
Licata lies on the southern coast of Sicily in the province of Agrigento, where the Salso River reaches the Mediterranean. The town is built between the river mouth and the slopes of Monte Sant'Angelo, a hill topped by a castle. From above, the harbour's breakwaters stretch out into the sea, and the old streets spread along the flat land behind them.
The area was settled in antiquity, and the Greek city of Phintias was founded near here in the third century BC. In July 1943 Licata was one of the landing points of the Allied invasion of Sicily. Today its structure combines a compact historic centre, the fishing and commercial port, and newer districts extending inland and along the coast.
A Licata map poster captures that meeting of land, river and sea. The breakwaters give the design sharp geometric lines, and the coastline and river add curves. It is a natural choice for people with Sicilian roots or anyone who knows this stretch of the Mediterranean coast.
Long stone arms extend into the sea to enclose the port, forming the most geometric shapes on the waterfront.
The Salso, also called the Imera Meridionale, reaches the sea at the edge of town, cutting through the coastal plain.
A hill rises above the town, its slopes leaving an open area on the map and topped by a castle overlooking the coast.

Koteā ko Licata
Many people hang Licata in memory of grandparents who emigrated from Sicily, or of summers spent on its coast. The sea, the river and the port make a map that is both personal and striking.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be written in English or Italian. You can then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
