Te mapa
Linosa belongs to the Pelagie Islands along with Lampedusa and Lampione, lying in the open Mediterranean between Sicily and North Africa. It is small and almost round, formed by volcanic activity, with several extinct cones rising above a compact landmass.
On a map, the island's shape is simple and soft-edged, with the village concentrated on the southern shore around the harbour. Its brightly painted houses are well known from photographs, though a black and white map shows them as a small grid of streets. The island's beaches are also a nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles.
A Linosa map poster is an exercise in simplicity: a rounded outline, a scattering of roads around the island's lower slopes, and one cluster of streets by the sea. The volcanic cones leave their trace in the way roads curve around them, giving an otherwise small map a quiet sense of relief and structure.
Extinct craters rise within the island, and the roads bend around their slopes, leaving clear spaces in the middle of the map.
Almost all settlement lies near the southern shore, where a compact set of streets gathers around the small harbour.
The island's nearly circular outline sits alone in open sea, giving the poster a clean, centred composition.
