Te mapa
Lonand lies in the Khandala taluka of Satara district, near the Nira river, on the dry, open plateau typical of this part of Maharashtra. From above the town is a compact grouping of streets along main roads, with a railway line passing nearby and farmland spreading across the land around it.
Each year the town becomes a stop on the Pandharpur Wari, when the palkhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar passes through on its way from Alandi. The procession brings large numbers of pilgrims into Lonand, and the event is an important part of the town's identity. The town is also known locally as a trading place for farm produce, including onions.
A Lonand map poster presents a clear arrangement: the dense market streets, the straight stroke of the railway and roads fanning out across the plain. With a wider crop, the river and surrounding villages come into view, placing the town within the same landscape that pilgrims cross on foot each year.
The railway passes close to the town, cutting a long, straight line through the looser street pattern and giving the print a strong structural element.
Lonand's centre is a tight cluster of lanes and shops, forming the densest area of the map and reflecting the town's role as a local trading hub.
Roads used by the Wari connect Lonand with neighbouring towns, so a wider view traces the path of the palkhi across the Satara countryside.

Koteā ko Lonand
For people from Lonand and for those who have walked the Wari, this map holds real associations. It reduces a busy market town and pilgrimage stop to a calm, graphic outline worth keeping on the wall for years.
Set the title and subtitle to a name or date, such as the year of a pilgrimage, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a $9 HD download or a printed poster.
