Te mapa
Sāngli lies on the banks of the Krishna River in southern Maharashtra, close to the border with Karnataka. The older part of the city sits near the river, with the Ganapati temple standing close to the water, while newer districts extend across the surrounding plain. Together with neighbouring Miraj, the city forms a combined urban area connected by road and rail.
Sāngli is known as one of India's leading centres of the turmeric trade, and its markets handle large volumes of the spice from across the region. The surrounding district is also important for sugarcane and grapes. In culture, the city is often called the birthplace of Marathi theatre, associated with the nineteenth-century dramatist Vishnudas Bhave.
A Sāngli map poster follows the broad bend of the Krishna as the defining line. Dense lanes near the river give way to wider streets and scattered development further out, and roads lead away toward Miraj and the farming villages beyond. The result is a quiet, balanced composition centred on the water.
The Krishna curves along the city's edge, and the older streets gather close to its banks, giving the map a strong natural boundary.
Tightly packed streets near the river mark the historic trading centre, where the city's turmeric and agricultural commerce developed.
Roads and a railway connect Sāngli with neighbouring Miraj, stretching the urban area into a longer, twin-city shape.
