Te mapa
Mormugao lies at the western tip of a peninsula in south Goa, between the Zuari estuary and the Arabian Sea. From above, the headland dominates: a narrow finger of land with the harbour and quays on its sheltered side, rocky shores facing the sea and the town of Vasco da Gama spreading inland. Dabolim Airport lies close by, its runway cutting across the higher ground.
Mormugao Port is one of India's oldest major ports and is historically known for exporting iron ore mined in Goa's interior. The harbour's natural shelter made it important during the Portuguese period and it remains central to Goa's economy today. Fragments of the old fortifications survive on the headland.
A Mormugao map poster shows a place defined by its relationship with water. The port's straight breakwaters and quays contrast with the curving coast, the estuary broadens toward the sea, and streets climb over the peninsula. The print makes a strong coastal composition, with the Arabian Sea filling much of the frame.
The sheltered harbour on the peninsula's northern side holds the port's quays and breakwaters, whose straight, engineered lines stand out against the natural shoreline.
The Zuari River widens into a broad estuary beside the peninsula, separating Mormugao from central Goa and giving the map a large expanse of water.
The peninsula rises inland, where Dabolim Airport's runway crosses the plateau, one of the clearest straight lines on the map of this coastal town.

Koteā ko Mormugao
Mormugao is a port town that many know as home, as a workplace or as their first view of Goa. A map of the peninsula captures its sea and harbour in a calm, graphic way, and makes a lasting reminder of the coast.
