Mangina Map Poster & Print
Mangina lies in the Beni territory of North Kivu, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The town stands on the main road that leads west from Beni toward the Ituri forest. From above, it forms a long ribbon of houses and plots along that road, with paths branching off into gardens and farmland.
The surrounding landscape is green and rolling, a mix of cultivated land and forest, with small streams crossing between the hills. The town has no formal grid. Its tracks and paths follow the ground and link homes, markets and fields in an irregular web.
Mangina became widely known in 2018 as the place where the Ebola outbreak in North Kivu was first identified. A Mangina map poster shows the everyday shape of the town: the main road as its spine and the dense, informal network of paths that make up a community.
