Te mapa
Masaka is in central Uganda, a short distance west of Lake Victoria and only a little south of the equator. The town is built across gently rolling hills, and its streets climb and curve with the ground instead of forming a strict grid. Beyond the centre, lanes break up into scattered homesteads, banana gardens and patches of wetland.
The main road between Kampala and the south-west passes through Masaka, which has long made it a trading and transport stop. The town was badly damaged during the Uganda–Tanzania war of 1979 and was rebuilt over the following decades. Today its commercial blocks gather near the main road, while residential areas spread over the hills around them.
A Masaka map poster shows a town shaped by terrain. Roads loop around hilltops, swampy valley floors stay mostly empty, and the highway gives the composition one confident line. The lake itself lies to the east, so a wider frame catches the change from town streets to the open, lake-edge landscape of Buganda.
Roads follow the crests and flanks of low hills, curving and forking so that the map shows a soft, irregular network instead of straight blocks.
The main road from Kampala towards Mbarara crosses the town, bringing the commercial centre together along one clear, continuous line.
The low ground between the hills is often marshy and lightly built. These areas appear as quiet empty bands that divide the neighbourhoods.

Koteā ko Masaka
Masaka means something to people from the Buganda region, to those who worked or studied there, and to travellers heading south-west towards the national parks. A map of its hills is a restrained way to remember the town.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line to include a name, a school or a year. Pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
