Te mapa
Bunamwaya lies on the southern side of Kampala in Wakiso District, part of the fast-growing ring of settlements around Uganda's capital. Like much of the Kampala area it is built across rolling hills and ridges. The road network responds to that terrain, curving around slopes rather than following a grid, so the map has a soft, flowing character.
Over recent decades much of the farmland here has given way to housing, and the map reflects that change. Main roads run along higher ground, smaller lanes branch off into residential clusters, and lower ground is left more open between them. The pattern is informal but readable, shaped by the land and by steady growth rather than a single master plan.
A Bunamwaya map poster records a place that is still in the middle of becoming a city. It is less a monument than a neighbourhood: the street where a house was built or a family grew up. The map places that street within the wider shape of greater Kampala and the hills around it.
The main routes tend to follow the high ground, giving the map a set of flowing lines that trace the shape of the hills beneath them.
Smaller residential streets split off from the main roads in irregular patterns. They fill the slopes with a dense, organic network that shows how quickly the area has been built up.
Valleys and lower land between the hills remain lighter on the map. They separate one cluster of housing from the next and give the composition room to breathe.
