Manglaur is a town in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, close to the border with Uttar Pradesh. It lies on the plains south of the Himalayan foothills, where the land is almost perfectly flat and intensively farmed. On a map the town reads as a tight knot of streets surrounded by open fields, with a major road running through it between Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar.
The older part of town is compact, with narrow lanes, closely packed houses and small market streets branching off the main road. Newer development stretches along the highway and the routes to nearby villages, so the built-up area has a slightly elongated shape. Around it, fields are divided into small irregular plots linked by tracks and irrigation channels.
